EPUB Production
I turn your finished manuscript into a clean, structured, publication-ready EPUB designed to behave properly across modern reading systems.
EPUB Production · Digital Publishing · Distribution Support
Wolfshafen Press turns finished manuscripts into professional, publication-ready ebooks and helps authors navigate the path from final file to distribution.
You bring the book. I handle the EPUB production, technical details, quality assurance, and the practical steps needed to get it into readers’ hands.
Publishing Services
I work with independent authors and small presses who want a professional ebook without having to become EPUB specialists themselves.
I turn your finished manuscript into a clean, structured, publication-ready EPUB designed to behave properly across modern reading systems.
Footnotes, endnotes, illustrations, unusual section structures, tables, internal links, scholarly material, and other content that does not fit neatly into a one-click conversion workflow.
I inspect the finished ebook as a publication and as a technical package: structure, semantics, navigation, validation, accessibility, and the details that can separate a merely converted file from a professionally prepared book.
I can help prepare the book and its metadata for distribution and walk you through the practical process of submitting the finished ebook to retailers and distribution services.
From Manuscript to Reader
The technical work can be complicated. Working together should not be.
We look at the manuscript, its structure, its special requirements, and where you want to publish it.
I produce the EPUB, translating the manuscript into a clean digital publication rather than relying on a blind conversion.
The book is checked for structure, navigation, validation, accessibility, presentation, and technical problems.
You receive the finished EPUB, and I can help you prepare metadata and navigate distribution to your chosen outlets.
Selected Publishing Work
My publishing work draws on decades of experience with structured information, document technologies, software, and standards. That matters most when the source material is complicated.
Open-Source Publishing Toolchain
A standards-focused workflow for transforming Balisage conference proceedings into accessible, publication-quality EPUB editions. The project combines XML processing, document analysis, repeatable conversion, quality assurance, and careful handling of complex scholarly material.
Why the Technical Background Matters
EPUB is built from structured documents and web technologies. My background in software development, XML, schemas, transformation, validation, and technical publishing means I can work below the surface when a book needs more than a template can provide.
Authors should not have to care about that machinery. The point of knowing it is to make the finished book more dependable.
Wolfshafen Press — The Imprint
Wolfshafen Press is also an independent publishing imprint for speculative fiction: science fiction and fantasy interested in political complexity, institutions, moral choices, and worlds that feel as though they continue beyond the edge of the page.
The press currently serves as the publishing home for Ben Wolfe’s own fiction, with the possibility of publishing selected work by other authors as the imprint develops.
Fiction releases, submission information, and project news will appear here as they become available.
About Ben
I have worked professionally with software and structured information since 1993, and I am a speculative fiction writer myself.
That combination is what brought Wolfshafen Press into focus. Digital publishing sits at the intersection of writing, typography, structured documents, web technologies, accessibility, validation, and distribution. I enjoy the parts most authors would rather never have to think about.
My job is to preserve the intent of the manuscript while making the underlying ebook clean, understandable, and dependable.
The technology should disappear. What the reader should notice is the book.
Tell Me About Your Book
Send me a short description of the book, what format the manuscript is currently in, any unusual formatting or structural requirements, and where you hope to distribute it. I can tell you what the project is likely to involve.
